On Tuesday, one of the top officials of the nation of North Korea is going to New York to talk to Mike Pompeo who is the US Secretary of State, this is a very clear indication that the summit could occur it was cancelled by the president of the United States, Donald Trump. There were indications that the summit between the two leaders would be taking place in the next month. Donald Trump made it clear in a tweet that Kim Yong Chol who is a former spy chief and one of the most trusted advisers of the leader of North Korea was on his way to the United States for a high level meeting whose main aim is to rescue the historic summit between the leaders of North Korea and the United States that was supposed to take place.
On Tuesday, the president of the United States mentioned in a Twitter post that they have put a great team together for a discussion with the representative of the nation of North Korea who is coming to the US. Trump also mentioned that the meetings are currently being held with the main focus being on the summit. Kim Yong Chol who is the vice chairman of the ruling Workers' Party's Central Committee and previously the head of a top military intelligence agency of the nation of North Korea is set to Mike meet with Pompeo sometime later this week. This is per reports from Sarah Sanders who is the spokeswoman of the White House.
She also added that the United States will continue to actively participate in the expected summit of the President of the United States Donald Trump with the leader of North Korea Kim John Un in Singapore. But she stopped before saying that the meeting had been reinstated after Donald Trump had cancelled it in the previous week in a letter to the North Korean leader Kim, referring to the open hostility in the statements given by North Korea. One of the officials of the United States said that the talks this week is targeted at determining whether the nation of North Korea is all prepared to make enough commitments towards getting rid of all its nuclear weapons in spite of the insistence from North Korea that it will not unilaterally denuclearize.
